A new project team, led by Dr Laura Starrs, has been set up at the IPO to prepare for ratification of the UPC Agreement. They will be working with colleagues in the FCO and Ministry of Justice to ensure the necessary legislative requirements and logistics are in place for entry into force. As the first step, the UK signed the Protocol on Privilege and Immunities of the UPC on 14 Dec 2016 and preparations for implementing legislation have recommenced (source: IP Connect Jan 2017)

The UPC is expected to become operational on 1 Dec 2017,
